Oval Ladies is an ongoing project, collecting stories on female persona's that have become invisible, throughout the centuries. By creating sculptural garments, tools, and animated videos, these characters are given a body once again. On a subatomic level of elementary particles there is no death, in the sense of permanent loss. In the quantum vacuum, which is the underlying reality of all there is, a well of being, all the atoms and waves of energy coexist. They form a web. In this web of interconnectedness, there is no past, present or future. Think of it as a space where all the energy of past, present, and future heroines come together. This quantum web is the home base of the Oval Ladies. Leonora Carrington once referred to the character of the Oval Lady as a transitionary persona that lives in an in-between space. In order to invite them to share their knowledge with me, I make sculptural garments and tools for them.
